I am reading a book called The Secret Garden by Frances Burnett. The Secret Garden is a realistic fiction story about a ten year old girl from India named Mary. When Mary's parents die from an outbreak of cholera, Mary comes to live with her uncle in Misselthwaite Manor. At first she doesn't have a lot of friends but she slowly makes friends with Martha a maid and Mr. Weatherstaff, the gardener.
Mary is kind of like some other people I know, whom have trouble making friends. Mary is a curious girl and reminds me of most other kids who like to explore. She soon makes friends with more kids including the Sowerby children, Colin and Dickon. Mary as well as Colin throw many tantrums and at first are very spoiled. Sometimes like Mary, I've had to keep a secret or two for the sake of others, as does Mary when she finds the garden but Dickon and Colin must not tell anyone about it.
In my story I began to wonder why Mary and Dickon didn't take Colin to the garden sooner. When Mary and Dickon found the garden they also made friends with some of the animals. They also started gardening and placing flowers such as Daffydowndilly's and Crocuses. What i also didn't get is why Colin got to order around his servants and no one asked the dads permission first.
