Rip Tide by Kat Falls (Text to Text)

In a world where global warming has taken effect and has flooded the lands. People are forced to live in the ocean. The book I read, Rip Tide by Kat Falls, the sequel to Dark Life, is a story about a boy, named Ty, who lives subsea with his family. Ty's parents were out selling their crop to surfs, but the surfs abduct Ty's parents, he doesn't know if they will survive. His friend, Gemma, helps him on his journey as he faces crazed officials, outlaws, killer crocodiles, and many more.
(v SPOILERS v)
There is a part in the book where Ty is trying to save his parents. He tries to ask the Seagaurd for help, but they don't get majorly involved. Near the end though, the Seagaurd do end up helping him. This reminds me of The Last Olympian, where Percy doesn't get to be in a quest, but he joins in anyway.
(^ SPOILERS ^)
This book made me wonder of Ty's decisions, he decided to join up with outlaws to find his parents. He also jumped in to a pool of gigantic crocodiles just to save someone he hated. Ty is usually a very smart person that thinks things through, but in this book, he does a lot of crazy things.

  1. Sounds like a cool book. Who are the surfs?

    1. Surfs are basically people who settle out in the ocean on an artificial moving town. They like have a big platform they live on and they fish from it. They are seen as poor, illiterate, and filthy beings. Since they are poor, they receive their rations from the government, but the government is cutting of their supplies little by little. The surfs are desperate enough to go in boxing arenas and fight killer crocodiles for meat/money.
